Sharon has been teaching Shamanic studies, as well as maintaining a personal practice in  transpersonal psychology for over 15 years. 
Sharon states that in her own life, the terms “shamanism” or “shamanic way of being”  express a state of mind and an experience of wholeness that existed in ancient times before there was any sense of separation from the natural world. Sometimes an understanding of the shamanic impulse, its mystery and medicine, its states of trance and crossovers to other worlds, is revealed to us only as fragments of meaning or echoes of longing. It is the longing that captures her. She  see’s us all as birds in a migratory pattern winging to a distant homeland, knowing something beyond knowing, surging ever homeward. 

Sharon has her Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and advanced training with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, where she studied with Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman. She has been a member of the faculty of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies since 1995. She offers workshops that explore universal indigenous wisdom and the evolution of consciousness.

The ONLY doctor for miles around…Period,  and Ashis loved his work, loved the people.
 Ashis, originally from the Netherlands, told me once that Doctors are a dime a dozen, but there are VERY few who are willing to do what he does, seek out those who need him most and then go out in the world to educate the rest of us. Today he is back from the Sudan and will speak to us from Uganda. Ashis wants to educate the world and he wants to shrink it, to make us remember those who have no voice and no clout to ask for help.

After twenty years of carefully following macrobiotics, Rebecca  was shocked to have developed invasive third class cervical cancer. Fortunately, she was able to reverse the cancer by using natural methods which included adding meat back into my diet. In all, it was an effective lesson in moderation. Rebecca studied  5 Element Chinese Medicine which formed her understanding of healing with food.

Rebecca has won both the Julia Child IACP Award and the James Beard award for her book The Splendid Grain  Her latest The New Whole Foods Encyclopedia, was a One Spirit Book Club winner as well. As an Educational Consultant to numerous organizations in the Natural Foods Industry, she has also established two cooking schools.
