This incredible woman is proof Positive that one woman with a great idea can change the course of many lives. For the first 25 years of Ida’s life, she lived through the Genocide and Insanity of Idi Amin in her native Unganda. One of the lucky ones, she left her country on a scholarships to study as Hotel Manager at the prestigious School of Tourism in Klessheim Salzburg. 20 years later during a trip back home, she found she couldn;t reconcile the beauty of the land with the poverty and struggle to survive of the inhabitants. Especially the woman artisans, who spent hours making beautiful crafts, hoping that a chance tourist will stop by and purchase one of their supplies. IDa returned home with a purpose. She wanted to help these woman sell their wares and increase their audience…..So she quit her job as a Housing Manager for the London Council and set up Ethnic Supplies Ltd a social enterprise specialising in African handicrafts and textile, art and crafts from East Africa.

Ethnic Supplies supports women in the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Madagascar by sourcing handmade handicrafts and fashion accessories from suppliers that support women to be financially independent or directly from established women’s groups in rural locations.
